A question to the people..

Does anyone want to see an expo
on chicken butchering the Hennery way?
It is not text book, but it gets the job done.

This is FatBoy.

He is a Langshan/Barred Rock cross

and the basis of my meat bird flock.

He must go.

Let me know if ya'll want to

have pics and commentary

of the dirty deed.

It will probably be this coming weekend.

I will do it regardless, but blog coverage is optional.

  1. Yep... I think you should. Put up a disclaimer or something, for the faint of heart, but it's part of what we do, and part of realistically keeping chickens.

I now want some Langshans... thanks to you... it's all your fault!

  2. 1 vote- yay

and as soon as I have some eggs, I will bring some down or meet you or mail them....
Stupid hens have their legs crossed. They just know how badly I want them to lay and they just refuse.
    I hear the snickering...

  3. I agree - it's part of homesteading. If you're game to photograph it and put it on, I'm game to read it and take notes.

  4. Aye, that I do! I always find it helpful to see how someone else does it. You never know when you'll learn something that might help you!

  5. I would love to see this. I think it is important that we see the whole picture, not a sanitized version. We get enough of the cleaned up version of things at the grocery store!

  8. Yeah.. He is beautiful.
But he doesn't have a flock right now and it has made him a bit testy and aggressive. I stopped tending him ages ago, but he finally went after DH too.
This all equals the stew pot.
He ought to make a few meals thoug, wouldn't you think.
